Anyone bought a towbar online and home fitted it ?? Thinking of getting one but was wondering if the kits they sell are shite or not. Probably half the price of getting someone else to do it though, so tempting.

Are you getting a trailer for the bike then.

Fitted 2 or 3. Never had problems. Recommend Witter.

I got one for my Volvo. Cost me £120 & another £70 to have it fitted. Had Volvo fitted it it would have been over £500

I've fitted a few of my own they come with instructions which are pretty self explanatory what car u fitting it too

Old Honda Accord...and yes Carl, I might be. I want to do a bit of riding in Europe, Alps area. Costs a bloody fortune in hotels, and camping on the bike is ok, but you're very limited in how much you can take, and when the weathers shite its miserable. I was thinking of stomaching the cost of a trailer, and the extra on the ferry, to enable trailering the bike down to where the good stuff is, also enabling use of a much bigger tent, decent cooking gear, camp bed, and so on. Plus on the days when the weather is lousy, you have the use of a car, and valuables get locked up properly when you're away from the site.

When you weigh it all up, it pays for itself.

Rent one of those camper vans, best of both worlds

I work as a mechanic in a garage and I bought mine off flea bay(new), I can't remember the make of it but it was half the price that our everyday parts supplier could do it for if you want the name I'll find it for you, bosal and witter are the common ones and usually the most expensive they all come with instructions and yes they are easy to fit, if you do get one off Internet make sure you get the tow ball and wiring kit with it(single just trailer,twin if your towing a caravan)buying them after could put another £10-£20 on. anything you want to know feel free to give me a shout

as long as you are ok with basic electrics and follow the instructions tow bars are easy fitted loads in the garage I used to work at

Cheers lads. Theres a firm called Towequipe on fleabay, been selling them for years, £90 all in. I know it would probably be double to get it done, but no point in paying out loads when it will hardly ever get used and its intended to save me money.

I had one off them for a Renault scenic think their bars are made by tow trust was a good product and good fit anker are also good bars.

I bought one for the mazda 6 from towsure in Sheffield and fitted it myself. Had it done in an afternoon, despite the struggle to find a route to the battery for the caravan power supply.
