Another noob.

Hello all
I'm new here, thought I'd join as I have recently bought a Firestorm. And promptly blew it up. Should perhaps just say "Hello, how are everyone" and leave it there, then sneakily admit a few days down the line that I am here because I need help, but I'll try honesty. Just this once. Yes I bought a Firestorm, Yes, I loved it, Yes I thrashed it, and Yes, yes, yes, the front cam chain tensioner went. Bugger...
So the front head is naff, been told all four valves are done for, and the valve guides too.
Luckily, I have two bikes, so I thought all I need to do is ride my VFR800 (Pre-tech, they are the best, right?) to work for a little while, until I can find a cheap engine on e-bay, alas, I crashed the VFR the next time I had to go to work, so now I am completely without a bike. It hurts. My butt also hurts, I have a bruise that covers my entire thigh, from knee to hip, all the way around. It's been a bad week...

Hello Thanks for the welcome, I am living between Scarborough and York, up in North Yorkshire. Moved up here (From London) just over a year ago, and I really like it. Nice roads too, but the camera-vans are becoming a real menace.
I'll definitely put some pictures up, although the bike isn't much to look at at the moment.

Wow two bikes out of action in a week.
been told all four valves are done for, and the valve guides too.
Has the head been taken off to investigate then. You could fix it yourself.
Welcome to the forum, your in the the right place.

Yes, I called the local bike shop (Austins Honda) and seeing as they came and picked the bike up, I asked them to have a quick look. They said all four valves, and valve guides had been hit, so it would be difficult to fix. So I guess it's a new head, and seeing the way there aren't any for sale, it looks like a new engine. Have seen one on e-bay for around £450,- delivered so that's the way to go I guess. Unless someone here has a better idea? Please help!

Hi there & welcome

Sorry to hear all the crap news. On the bright side this is the best place to get things sorted. Keep a close eye on the bay as they do tend to come around quite often. You may find a friendly soul on this forum may have one kicking about. Give Tony a poke as he is a mobile mechanic & is considered a god when it comes to repairing these bikes

Nice one, and thanks for the warm welcome. Much appreciated. I thought the forum might be a good place to start investigating what (If anything) could be done with the old engine. So... If anybody has an old engine or a front head kicking about, please let me know
There is the e-bay option, but to be honest, £450 is a lot of money right now, I do biking on a budget. (Thus two 2000 model bikes, a VFR and a VTR) And I paid more for the VTR than I would normally pay for any bike, just because I liked the numberplate (Ends with 666 VTR, I used to own another bike nicknamed "The Beast", so when I saw the VTR, reason went out the window)

Hi Mr Lump sounds like you have had one of my weeks but it can only get better m8, I bought a storm with the front cct gone and managed to get one and I am no mechanic but with all the help from this forum I managed to do it and replace the ccts to manual ones, Have a look for a front head that has gone and bent the valves and if the head is ok get a rear head which are cheap and swop the valves, Good luck
