How do?!

Evening!

So, I just picked up a '98 Storm for a decent price, and thought I'd jump on here to learn from fellow owners. I'm based in Dalkeith, just south of Edinburgh, so hopefully I'll get to meet a few loacal-ish members at some point. I've also got an 06 SV650 converted for trackdays and I'm in the midst of rebuilding an 03 SV650 with GSXR front and rear bouncy bits and an FZ6 headlight unit. I like twins, apparently... though there's a list as long as my leg of previous bikes too.

She's my second VTR as I had a 97 Storm a few years ago when my Dad decided he wanted an RSV Mille instead. Mainly used that one as a track bike though, but this one is for road use. It's fairly standard, barring Microns (road legal, allegedly :o ), R&G bungs, Pyramid bellypan, black double bubble (not usually a fan of black screens but looks OK on the black bike). Overall it's in decent nick, with only a few areas of light rust and some furry nuts! Even came with Mr Honda's original toolkit under the seat, and a few spiders behind the clocks... Time will tell whether it's mechanically sound or not though so far it sounds good, even if it is fuelling a little rough, I think (sounds like a Friday night in Baghdad on the overrun).

Short term, I'll give it an oil/filter and coolant change. Medium term (i.e. in winter) I'll put it in for a full service, just in case, and I'll refresh the calipers as they're a little stickier than they should be. I'm not renowned for leaving bikes alone for long, so longer term, who knows...

Oh, can anyone tell me what the factory suspension settings should be? Want to put it back there before I start faffing about with it.

MICK..

I've got a shot that shows the brown garden waste bin off better, if you want that (though I'll warn you, the blue recycling one is out of shot, so you'll have to choose...)? :P

Welcome in mate, I'm about 12 miles north of you. My in-laws live near Danderhall so I know your neck of the woods pretty well.

Welcome aboard  A Nice looking bike 8)

Follow this link below and go to the 5th post down, firestorm_al has posted two pages of Performance Bike's recommend suspension settings, plus they give the standard settings as well. Mind how you go though, as your bike may have had some fork mods (upgrades) done to the front forks so my not be standard.
