i was so careful with the dremel, i practised on some old fairings i had for hrs first, overall very pleased, and cleaned the forks up with the dremel too.

Very rewarding when you look back at the bike as you walk away and think "I did that" innit. Nice job.

rubbing the forks down was a bugger though. My hands were almost skinned and can't touch the misses for weeks

Looks great.
How much rise compared with standard clip ons?
What top yolk did you fit?
Any more pictures from other angles?
I have fitted angled clamps to standard top yolk, but not brought or fitted bars yet.
Or trimmed fairing

But the one thing that puts me off doing this, is the cutting of the fairing. It just niggles me loosing the continuation of the outer lip. Keeps catching my eye! If I ever ended up going down this route I would body-fill a rounded lip back and re-spray. Easy for me to say as my fairing could do with some repairs and re-spraying anyway. It's a bit different with a perfectly good fairing.

I've seen the state of your fairings, you wouldn't notice that top bit being cut off...
