Standard Can - Doesn't fit?

Post by Mav617 »

Hi,

Decided to put the standards on for the MOT (lol, still got front brakes to sort and can't get the fecker to run thanks to the vacuum pipe so why bother?)

Front cylinder no probs, took the link pipe off for the rear and tried to fit the rear standard - no chance. Dremmeled away as much of the old gasket as I could, still no joy - am I missing something here?

This tw@ is heading for eBay at the mo (again)

Yes thanks, but the pipe won't fit over the header?

The hound does it again  Do you have the graphite gasket in place. If an old or worn gasket the pipe will wobble around a bit and not give a snug fit. If a new gasket, then this can take some force to get things to slide on. A little grease may help here, but expect a bit of smoke when the grease burns off.

Thanks Carl - with the remnants of the old gasket still in the pipe it won't fit over the header. I've pretty much ground out the old gasket - a loose fit I could deal with but it won't fit at all

I like the look of the standards but I think the header has been opened up (flared?) to make a better fit for the link pipes for the ART cans.

I'll get some new cans that are street legal and sell both the Honda ones and the ARTs.
