Hi,
Returning member. I owned a storm back in early 2000s for a few years and loved it. I sold it and have had a few different bikes over the years. Decided I wanted a project to fill my evenings and after a decent tax rebate shelled out £400 for a fairly shabby old storm. Usual tatty bits and the front cam chain tensioner gone. I have already stripped the bike down to just an engine at the moment and awaiting parts to fix then the renovate and rebuild can begin.
Plans are coming along at the moment. I've already got the VFR800 swing arm and rear wheel ready to fit. Some Fireblade USD forks. Think I'm going to put an 07 R1 rear end on it with under seat exhausts, however I am in talks with some people about the possibility of fitting a turbo. If this goes ahead then I wont need an exhaust so would like a ZX636 B1H rear on it.
Anyway, that's my plan. Will keep you informed of my progress if anyone is interested. I know a few people on the site have done some of these mods before so will be using the search button quite a bit.

Welcome back to stormworld.

Thanks for the welcome, I have started a thread as suggested but cant work out how to post photos.

Also a couple of quick questions. I have the engine apart now so think it would be wise to replace both cam chains and tensioners along with the 4 valves in the front cylinder. I was going to use David Silver spares to get them but then have been reading about the manual cam chain tensioner so think it would probably fit them instead. My questions are where is the best place to buy them? Also when replacing the cam chains and the tensioners is it necessary to replace the arms that the chains run on? mine look perfectly fine and move freely so think it may be an unnecessary expense.
Any help greatly appreciated.

Not necessary unless badly worn but I doubt they are. The same goes for the chains. You would be better off saving your money for for an aftermarket ECU/ignition system of some kind to control fuelling if putting a turbo on.
