oh crap

Post by pstormer »

Hi all
The rebound screw was seized on the rear shock when i bought the bike so Ive been plus gassing it in the hope of freeing it off. Just went to it and got it slowly moving a little each way. Kept working it a bit at a time. Next thing it freed up and was turning freely or so i thought. It now turns in both direction with no resistance. The screw is loose, it wont pull out completely but has a couple of mill in and out play. I don't know how the screw is held in or even if it can be fixed. Its defo not adjusting the rebound. Any help or advice much appreciated.

Yep. A rebuild is possible, but the original shock isn't all that, so a new aftermarket one is your best bet.

However if funds are tight I could offer you an exchange for a secondhand standard one if you want- £20 plus P+P.
I have one on a rolling chassis that isn't ever going to be used except as a jig to make exhausts, so lack of damping won't matter.
It's not falling off, it's an upgrade opportunity.
