In the middle of painting my wheels white.

Have seen a lot of bikes with white wheels on here but have decided on a twist.

Will leave hubs and spokes black and just paint the rim white.

If it looks dud will paint completely white.

While I am at it new Cush drive rubbers, chain and sprockets.

Wheels off ready to go.



Rubbed back and masked up.



Etch primed



Now to leave for a week to harden up.



Will give a light sand and a final coat, clean up the edges where the spokes meet the rims and hopefully the black and white will look O.K

Will post pics at that stage for your opinions.

It should look pretty good.
My first go with stock wheels was similar in that I wet two tone with the wheels.
On mine the centers were white and I polished the lip of the rim.

How did you get on removing the old paint and have you used acid-etched or ordinary primer

You know what guys, the Storm is the best all round bike!

It's hard to express what it is but it's so engaging. Do something to it and you can feel it straight away.

After much modding and tinkering it can hold it's own with the 848 or the Tuono. It's strange how you have to change your riding style for each bike.

Don't get me wrong the others are great, but if I had to choose the Storm would stay!

NZ- I am taking my time with the wheels, I want them to be perfect. I have worked the weekend so not much has been done.

I want them to cure before I sand them for the final coating. One thing that surprised me is how light these rims are without tyres on them.

Serch- used an etch primer so that the paint sticks better, not acid based.

Sanded the wheels by hand then hit them with a fibre sanding wheel and a drill then hand sanded them again before priming.

Labour intensive, but only want to do it once!!!

Gold rims, or gold centres with a contrast?

I really hope this turns out O.K.!!

Thinking gold rim with black spokes. Really not sure if it would work. May be safe and go for gold completely.

Yeah, I'm not to sure if the black and white will work, if it does I will call them my Michael wheels after the late great man! Ha ha.

The more I think about it the more I think it will look Naff. I think I will go solid gold. Just have to work out which shade.

I will be off riding for a few weeks soon so will send things off for work then.

Lots of runs on the back wheel. Wet sanding for the last coats.

I am trying to be patient doing this but I just want to get it done.

Have the weekend off and want to ride!
