Flo-Commander for pilot circuit

Post by mik_str »

So, I installed a Flo-Commander on the pilot circuit of my carbs (already have one for the main circuit). Did this for two reasons: to try it (like the way the unit works on the main circuit) and secondly as my pilot circuit has been rich ever since I installed my (homemade) X-Wing. So, 30 or so minutes later, it was in and I just got back from a ride. I was able to lean out the low-end (hard to believe, but it was rich with 40 pilots and fuel screws out 1/8F and 1/4R). By turning the adjustment screw CCW, I finally got it perfect and the bike picks up cleanly from any rpm and response is now immediate regardless of speed or gear. I can't really imagine it being better than this, but I guess I'll have to reserve judgement until I try the Factory Pro set-up with HDJ needle jet.......

cheers

they don't perform any miracles, but they sure make tuning a whole lot easier than tearing into the carbs all the time. They also allow simple fine-tuning for temperature and elevation.....

It would be great if you could have one for each cylinder.
Now that I have the lambda sensor fitted I can't tune them both together and despite having a 188 main on the rear, and a 173 on the front. The problem is, the rear is too lean, and the front is too rich; so the adjustment needs to go both ways at the same time....

I'll have a bit more playing with it at some stage.
It's not falling off, it's an upgrade opportunity.

how this come? Due to new airbox? I expect that each cylinder will have different power delivery if it is working only with this setup.

No reason you can't.... just open up that wallet :) You should be able to afford it, what with the money you save by not providing scones I mean...... :biggrin

  Would you like some cream and Jam with them.

Flo commander on the pilot I think is a fantastic thing to have. More important than mains IMO as this is where things are fine tuned more so for climate. Slight seasonal adjustment that is, I'm not talking taking a ride to Denver. It may also help with low down transitions to the slide and any coughs/farts. I'd love to see some pics of this set up once you get it all fitted. I'm really looking forward to hearing how the bike behaves/runs with your new set up from FP and with this flow commander. Should be very cool, I want one. Flow commander for the pilot that is. Is it a special order from them as they don't advertise a pilot for out bikes? and how much?

I e-mailed the company and he put a kit together for me (nicely done, comes with VTR-specific mounting instructions).

Im working one one that will work for each cylinder and mains. So 4 adjustments. Just need the time and money to build it.
