Newbie Hello

Post by BSR »

Hello,
VTR1000, black, CBR1000 forks.
Goes well, needs louder pipes.

Toying with the idea of flat bars & ditching the fairing.

Cheers.

Welcome to your new home..... Well care home

Put your location in to the personal details and you might find some locals to help out in times of need

Maybe it was the thought of a storm being streetfightered. It would need a lot of nursing with no fairing. :eek2

Cheers for the welcome.

It's my first sportsbike for about 20 years, bought because of its price and needing a commuter having just blown my Triumph up.

Because of the 'social circles' I, until recently, moved in, I've been riding a mixture of hardtails, chops, Harley, V-Max... you get the picture.
Riding this thing has taken a LOT of getting used to, particularly the lack of weight.

I get cramp in my wrists because of the clip-ons, my neck hurts because the thing is so damned small, the tank is so small I have to fill up every 2 journeys and the lack of weight makes it feel vague and unsure on a greasy road...
but...
I think it's one of the best motorcycles I've ever owned.
On a dry road the handling is sublime. Overtaking is a piece of piss, it absorbs bumps well (ish), filtering through traffic is so easy it's untrue and the noise... oh baby the noise on overrun. She needs LOUD pipes to really help her bark and crackle.

I quite like the look of this

welcome to the forum fella, have you tried a breast pump.........
where are you based?
you can take the baffles out of the original cans, costs nothing and helps with the noise in a positive way, if you do streetfighter the bike, I might know someone who'd be interested in your fairing....
renthal bars are a good option for comfort several members have gone down that route....
HEY YOU GUYS!!!!!!

A friendly hello from all the way up here, to all the way down there.

As Firestorms go (colour wise), I own a red one. But, out of all the colours I've seen, I like the black the most. I think every bike/car/van/truck/tesco trolley looks good in black.

If I had yours, I'd have the wheels powder-coated in gold, swap the engine bolts for anodised gold, gold handlebar weights, and then give the bike a good coat of polish. (sorry, I pause here a bit to wipe up the drool from thinking about a black n gold storm  )

Keep the forks on, as they look the dogs danglies. Dunno what make/brand of cans for the backend tho, but I reckon, if you put something like the one in the pic on, you'd have the coppers waiting for you in the next town before you even left your driveway!

:Beer1: Have a good 'un.
If it ain't broken...f*ck about with it until it is.

flat bars and keep the fairing makes it a great all round roadbike ..... well apart from the tank range, but you get used to that.

add loud pipes, some good sport tour tyres and set the suspension up, and it will start to feel good even on greasy roads
