Dyno good or bad?????????????
I have just bought a vtr it has leo davinchi cans and a stage one dyno,
its very heavy on the motion lotion ,is this normal? i do have original cans, would it make much difference to fuel consumption if the oe cans were put back on? can dynos be reversed? or have a gone to far?

Before you go back Robsta What do you call bad?.
Mine always slurps a lot more juice when the weather is cold and crappy Have you considered having a diagnostic run done (about £30) to see if it's been set up properly. Mines piped and Jetted and I still make 40 to the gallon(imperial not US) in the summer. Ridden hard you get less but then I've also struggled toget 30 mpg when it was standard and running rough in the winter.

ermfrom reserve to reserve returns about 120km 70ishmpg
Do you mean from full (when bike is upright, full to the brim) to reserve about 70 miles?
If you do, Does it have the std sprockets on it?. I haven't heard of many storms even with full race exhasts and jetting being that bad except on the track

mines the one with the small tank, standard running on day to day get 100miles to the tank.........34mpg
Race exhausts out on a run about 100 to 120 on a tank about 38mpg.
long motorway run at 70 mph bike standard got best of 50.1 mpg
worst ever tankfull lasted 82 miles.........but was fun getting there. About 30mpg or just under.

Mines about the same MPG as Pauls (NHR22259) except the 50.1 bit. (Mine never got close to that even in std trim )
I think you ought to get yours checked out Robsta
but on the bright side what you spend on getting it fixed you should get back with the amount of fuel you save by about May in my reconning

Robsta,
I'd second Pete's comments
Mine used to be 90miles til red light of doom
Fitted Pipercross and got it setup properly, now generally goes 120miles to RLOD
It sounds like that when the pipes and stage one were fitted they set it up to run too rich
How's the outlets from the exhaust can look? Black and sooty?
Ben

My 98 bike (with the small 16L tank) used to go 90miles til red light of doom
Fitted Pipercross and got it setup properly, now generally goes 120miles to RLOD so its paid for itself already

Hi Pete,
I have got it booked in to be checked out, bit nervous about your comment on how long it will take to pay for it self (joke) gotta be done though otherwise i can see myself selling it to be able to keep running it, (contradiction in terms) .
Cheers Ben, for the reasurance i have got sooty exhaust pipes and the engine tick over is eratic let ya's know how i got on after the weekend.

Cool
Let us know how you get on. It should run a lot better if it's done properly as well as better economy the power will increase along with the acceleration. It's quite common to over jet a bike thinking more fuel going through = more power but when you pass its optimum it just runs crap and slows down.
Post the jet sizes and needle settings when you get it sorted so they will be handy for the next poor pleb who has a problem
On the other hand it could be anything from a sticking choke plunger to a blocked air filter or even a poor spark. Either way having it checked out will save a few pennies in the long run
Cheers

mine has been on the dyno, its giving about 80/86 miles round town and 122miles on a run, thats befor the fuel light comes on.
mine has been tuned and runs 115.3bhp at the back wheel.
thats with dyno jet,KnN, race cans and air box mod.
when it was standard it ran 100miles regardless af how i rode it.
running it on the dyno is worth every penny.
