Slightly odd this one in that the dial goes up to 280 but it says MPH on the face of the clock.

Coincidentally the supplying dealer us very local to me and always did parallels ad I bought my 98 blade there. I seem to remember there was a method of electronically doing some to the speedo so the needle actually reads as mph on a kph clock face

Any input welcome !!!!!

Have you a photo of your speedo? There have been odd cases of lcd apparently suddenly showing kmh (after electrical problems?) but there's no known way to reprogramme it back. If kmh scale was to show mph was used using a speedo healer then the total miles / trip meter display would be false.

I'll do a picture - not sure I can upload???

A pic will better illustrate what I am on about !!!!

Very pleased with it though - it was cheap as a previous cat c but it us in very good nick.

I'm suspecting this speedo was a dealer fix on delivery

The mph marking looks like a sticker applied the the face of the speedo, and as the sppedo goes to 280 I guess its a kph speedo with some sort of conversion/speedo healer type thing. Might be replacement clocks though so not really a way to tell if your bike is an import. A Honda dealer would probably be able to tell from your chassis number/VIN or perhaps a call to Honda may clear it up?

Yup agree with Kurt - the 'mph' is obviously a sticker covering the original 'kmh'. Was it sold by the 'dealer' to you as a UK bike? Name and shame em...

You could take out the speedo face and put this in > http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Honda-VTR-100 ... 20ee63f285

Chassis number/VIN would tell you the Japanese factory it was manufacturered and the year, though if you check with Honda UK in Bracknell they might still have a record if it was officially imported into the UK.

Thanks fellas

It was a private sale - and having done more research on mot s there are a few mentions down the years of headlamp masks etc so I am assuming it is a right dipper - as I said earlier the original dealer was well known for parallels .

Guess I'll have a look for a left dipping headlamp unit and think about the speedo - as mentioned it may have some kind of speedo healer.

I'm thinking of putting it on a worn for a bit until I get through giving it a service and a real good going over - really looking forward to it

In the Netherlands there are 2 dates on your registration document. They say when your bike was registered in the Netherlands and when it was first registered worldwide. So if they are different you've got an import. I don't know if you guys over there got something similar.

I wanted to know where it came from (German bike may have restrictions) so I have sent my frame number to Honda with a couple of questions, and I got my answers the same day!

He told me where my bike was produced (which factory) and for which country it was made/where it was first imported.
If you take a look at the Honda site you can find where to ask your question. It could be a little different than mine since I'm not English.

Hia Chris

What a great place this forum is!!!!!'

Thanks so much for getting in touch - not sure what etiquette is on the forum for passing emails et as I can't respond to your pm.

Totally right in that was supplied by Kim, as was my blade I bought in 1998.

Feel much better about the speedo now !!!!!!

Be great to meet up

I'll be posting some pics of both my storm and blade later

Once again many thanks
