24LTR TANK
24LTR TANK
HI ALL .
I have a project in mind that's close to all our hearts
ie : tank range ! As some will know im in possession of
a HARRIS 24ltr fuel tank , my idea is to now get it copied
Fuel range is up to a staggering 150miles with one of
these beauties and to be honest I don't see why with
some delving on my part , why I cant find someone to
make some .
affordability is I guess down to interest so please let
me know your thoughts .
Material : well ...... I have given this some thought
and I don't see why we cant have them in CARBON FIBRE !
I already know someone who can make the internal
fuel resistant tank and im confident that I can find
someone to make the outer carbon tank .
SO . dependant on price being affordable
WHO WANTS ONE ??
YETI..
ps carbon Kevlar is possible too

Re: 24LTR TANK
I like the idea of a bigger tank and also in carbon .
I'd have 1 without thinking about it

Re: 24LTR TANK
Would be awesome. Is carbon even legal for a bike tank?
Budget storm gradually on the road to spangliness.
Re: 24LTR TANK
LEGAL :
well ..... my view on this is that these
would be "not for road use" . and up to
the purchaser to use at there discretion .
My HARRIS tank is aluminium but carries
no marks or stickers to say if its tested
for use on the road .
I dare say there are many modified tanks
on the road that are untested but I can
assure you all parts will be checked for
there durability and will be made to the
very highest or standards .
I for one don't want any comeback or to
cause anyone who did decide to have one
any problems , just happy biking !

I wouldn't want to be the owner of a faulty fuel tank who has to go to your customer complaints department.....
great idea tho, as everyone has said dependant on price......

HEY YOU GUYS!!!!!!
Re: 24LTR TANK
size SIZE AND SHAPE :
My harris tank is an exploded version of the VTR tank
and therefore looks larger but also standard .
I have it on my road bike which has a fireblade front
end on it but I did use it on my standard bike and in
both cases had no and have no problems with any
clearance issues .
SIZE : now theres the thing ...... im contemplating
doing a few versions obviously the 24ltr as the extra fuel
it holds is the main advantage but im also thinking
about a smaller version , 19ltr and a 16ltr with cut
outs for using ram-air .

Re: 24LTR TANK
It would have a stainless steel fuel cell
with a 2 piece bonded carbon fibre outer
skin .
the fuel tap would be in the same position
as standard and the tank itself would have
been pressure tested .

Re: 24LTR TANK
An endurance tank would make a great bike almost perfect. I hate it's always me who first has to stop for fuel....
If the price is right, I'm definately interested in owning one!

Re: 24LTR TANK
no brainer , but like the rest depends on cost
DOES THIS RAG SMELL LIKE CHLOROFORM TO YOU ?
Re: 24LTR TANK
You may be the first to stop but the rest of the group are also glad to give their numb bums a rest. And they still top up anyways.Veturinkuljettaja wrote:An endurance tank would make a great bike almost perfect. I hate it's always me who first has to stop for fuel....
