Greetings good to hear you're enjoying your storm beastie

As for CCTs the general view is do something and replace them with either manual tensioners or at a minimum too prevent valves meeting piston is do the stopper mod. As Honda don't officially recognise the auto CCTs as a problem which has resulted in many a VTR engine grenading with expensive inconvenient engine rebuilds - I'm not surprised they say ignore it as they'll charge £20-£30 an hour and parts to put it back together - or you splash out £50 once on manual CCTs and enjoy a life-time of reliability.

PS Also look at upgrading your R/R

If you haven't already stumbled accross it this will help steer you in the right direction > *** Read Me for New Members *** > Bike Maintenance and Upgrades/Modifications > http://www.vtr1000.org/phpBB3/viewtopic ... 45#p304638

Brought a new storm to supplement my Rr9Repsol two weeks ago.

After riding home from North Wales, commuting and a trip to Sammy Millers in the new forest I,m loving it.

Growing list of things to do includes new chain and sprockets just turned up, updated suspension, change wheel colour, oil change and maybe the Ccts.

Really confused on the Ccts. New ones, manual, stopper mod or just leave them as both Local Honda dealers have recommended? Worrying about it is the only thing spoiling my rides at the moment.

Will post some pics once I can work out how to attach them?

Hi!

At a minimum do the stopper mod. Its just not worth trusting the auto ones. They will fail and cost big money to fix.

Every new VTR owner needs to know this.

I think I am going to go the manual route. Are there any members in the Surrey/Kent/London or maybe even Essex that provide a service for changing these?
Mr T. Mons esq of Kent is the man, ride in ride out...exchange of beer tokens is required but he's a busy man so getting it done soon may be an issue. I'll PM him for you. If he can't sort it out you can bring it down to me, also Kent but further out.
