Hi, from the new guy.

Hi, from the new guy... Alryt guys, names Tony and I'm 23, bought my first firestorm at the start of the summer and I love it! Perfect first litre bike, easy to ride and handles brilliant with a motor full of... "character" shall we say :P

I've covered about 3000 miles so far and it even makes a good everyday workhorse. Although it does want to rattle itself to bits, that's only to be expected from a big twin, right?

It also has the mentioned (reviews and tests) "spit back" through the airbox at low revs (generally below 4 and a half grand of revs) This is also normal?

The only engine mods the bike has I'm aware of are aftermarket manual cam chain tensioners (heard they are common fault), and scorpion slip-on cans (Road legal of course ;p).
If anyone can verify what I've said or just wants to say hi back, that would be much appreciated!

I'm now off to start a thread on the workshop page because my baby is suffering horrendous kickstand switch issues atm :( I have hardwired kickstand switch wires together and bypassed datatool immobiliser, but she still dies in gear randomly, and then only works again wen it wants to. So I need help :/

wel;coe to the club.......... if you put your location in your profile you might find a local Storm owner who can help out with some spares or swap components

Welcome to the forum. Cct's are done,reg/rec. should be next job. My side stand switch played up so I cleaned all chain grease off and squirted it with wd40. It's ok now but if i stall it ,it won't start In gear with the clutch pulled in. I have to put it in neutral but I can live with that. :thumbup:

Thanx that would be really helpfull I have just updated my location I'm near Glasgow in Scotland btw, for any1 nearby.

Welcome Aboard from the sunny south :thumbup:

Not a mobiliser fan. I would be tempted to remove t and see if all your troubles are removed too. I 've not seen a decent installation of one yet and they all seam to cause trouble at some time.

Cheers for the warm welcome chaps, I appreciate Wat ur saying Pete but I never had an issue with mine until this started
I hav been told big twins like to rattle the insides of immobilisers apart and they are generally bad news however I have "immobilised" the immobiliser
By removing the main fuse from the battery... I was told by a datatool representative this would bypass the immobiliser and discount it as an issue.
I am willing to hav it removed if need be but don't Want to spend the money if i don't have to(not exactly flush atm). Do you think it could be a problem still considering the bike will start in neutral?

I here what you are saying. Normally with this kind of fault you need to look in three areas.

Side stand switch, which you have done, Clutch switch, up on the handle bar, stops the bike from starting when in gear and Kill switch.
Now there is an immobiliser fitted it adds another couple of problems. Its self, which you've disabled, but also the loom which has been spliced into to fit it. If that was done poorly or with inferior connectors the wiring can break down over time and cause all sorts of intermittent pain in the a$$ ness.
That's the only reason I suggested getting rid of it.
If you have a good short on the side stand do the same or just clean out the clutch switch and Kill switch before attacking the immobiliser and loom connections.

I should have said,it works incognito with the neutral switch so it could be either of them, although it pretty rare for the neutral switch to give problems as its not open to the elements.

Looked at clutch switch quickly today and seems to be working with fine
However, if I disconnect the clutch switch with the 2 wires connected to the switch should I b able to start the bike In neutral and click into gear with the engine still running? Mine allows this to happen but will not let me start bike in gear with clutch in.
