How do I test the water pump without draining coolant or removing covers, am thinking pull off carb heater hose and see if it shoots out ?

What's on earth makes you think the water pump has stopped working
If you have the fairing off, remove the radiator cap and start the bike, the coolant you should see in the radiator now the cap has been removed will be swishing about almost like a jacuzzi
If the water pump has stopped working, the coolant should be still,
