DVLA What a fking class act.

Post by StormingHonda »

Well I bought the Fireblade a few weeks ago, got it trailer-ed home like a good boy. Done repairs, changed oil and filter got the bike ready to use. Phoned up the insurance company insured the bike, that's when it all started going.....Wrong.

I tried to SORN the bike when I got home with the V5C/2 But the system wouldn't allow me to do that, so I thought great I'll wait for the Log book to turn up, usually that part is pretty good, but nope took over two weeks to get to me. but in the meantime I phoned the DVLA to make sure they had sent it and also told them about the problem I had getting the bike Sorn, which they done over the phone....so far so good, until he told me I might owe them a whole years tax as it hadn't been taxed since may 2015, I told the bloke that he should go and talk to the previous owner as I hadn't long had the bike, and they weren't getting a penny outta me.

I contacted the previous owner and he promptly sent me proof that the bike had been Taxed right up till September this year.

Well I finished what I needed to do and decided to clench my chocolate starfish and see how much it was going to cost me on top, I was expecting £120 but it came back £60.77p great I thought I have the money to get 6 months tax, so I went and punched my details in and....and....went straight to a screen saying " thank you, but we already have your details and the bike is Sorn'ed " will not for the love of money or everything holy tax the bike online, post offices closed and next day is Sunday, great.

The problem is this is not the first time I have had this problem, and I had to wait 7 days last time to be able to tax the Honda X-11.

So when I tax it I will be halfway through the money so that's a bonus for them also.

What a bunch of useless flowers.

A bunch for F*wits, same as bloody Tax centers, don't know if they are coming or going. 1 day writ from the Sherriff about unpaid taxes, next day you get a rebate. :Argue: :Ball Kick:
Don't hassle me
I'll get there at some time

Once again it seems that taxing agents are universal the world over. I just bought a used and neglected 2002 Honda VFR800. I paid an honest $1200. The tax lady looked at my paperwork, got a book out and told me the real value of that bike was $1700 and taxed me accordingly. I kept my mouth shut but I thought about saying "since you are just making sh*t up why not just make it a even million?" I know that they are "just following orders" but they act so smug when they do it. Now I gotta sell something.

I eventually managed to tax my Fireblade online, what a crock, having to wait so long, and the joke of it is its back dated to the 1st, so they have in effect stolen 13 days of tax from me.

You have to pay tax on second hand private purchases in the states??????

8O Sounds worse than what we have. :eek2

The biggest issue we have now is all the digital technology which nobody understands how to use, operate, and keep secure. That industry moves so fast that people can't keep up. They should never have abandoned the old vehicle tax system. Walk into a post office (oh yeh we don't have them any more  ) show you appropriate paperwork, pay and get a paper disc to display. It has the added bonus of keeping more people employed too :biggrin

TBH I would be willing to pay a little more if it meant that is created more employment and abandoned the digitised system where they can track and monitor us in the Orwellian state that we are all now living in.
