I've had the displeasure on a few occasions now of having my bike cut out on one or both cylinders while riding in the pouring rain. As I get ready to head out on a one week bike vacation next Monday, I certainly have no desire to contend with this type of crap. So, I have combined my creative juices with a sheet of 0.5mm aluminum and fashioned some covers that I will install over the cylinder head covers, thereby sheltering the plugs from incoming moisture. As I was a bit concerned about the heat trapping ability of said covers, I decided to add two Forgzskinz vents (breathable and waterproof) to prevent any problems from such heat accumulation. I will be off shortly to install them, and will seal them/hold them in place with aluminum bonding tape (which, of course, can be easily sliced/cut/peeled off come maintenance time)..

Sounds like a good idea.
I did something similar but used a sheet of rubber pond liner as a shield as it's slightly less conductive. You don't want it arching from the caps to your shield, it would just move the problem somewhere else

I must admit I've not really found the front cylinder to cut out in the wet, although I have fitted a front fender extender so that may help. Mind you I try not to ride now when it's raining if I can help it, even so I do get caught out sometimes with the ever changing weather.

What you're doing has to be worth a try, good luck with the mod

I had the same problem after fitting coil over plug caps.
The front one arcs easily when wet.
A fender extender might help, most of the water is thrown up by the front tyre.
I made a boot from a section of bicycle inner tube, clamped over the whole assembly and finishing just short of the cylinder head so as to allow ventilation and prevent moisture build up.
It improved matters but wasn't perfect.

My baby lives outside sheltered under 2 astonishingly good quality covers from Aldi. (£8 each)
Plenty WD40 all over with a bit of grease on the stanchions coupled with regular washing keeps the bike fine.
Wish I had a garage though.
