Having never carried either a frozen chicken or 8 beers in my rucksack I cant recomend the Knox rucksack i use...
I would say get one with a chest strap as its better for when your traveling at speed, saves the shoulder straps slipping.

Hook the bag handles on the handle bars and wobble off carefully out the car park....

I know someone who swears by a
Lomo but then he does swear in the vicinity of most things. Supposed to be excellent for the money, especially compared to Kriega , and the separate dry/wet sides id ideal for keeping a frozen chicken away away from the kegs - beer or otherwise

Kreiga.
Buy once and buy right.
Before I had one I didn't think there would be much difference between different types, I was wrong.
But the bobblebee hard shell might be worth a look if you carry expensive stuff like laptops.

Have a look at Ogio too - I have a Clutch in orange and it's excellent quality but may be a bit small for two chickens and 8 cans of beer, but this one may work for you and the Ogio brand is well known for quality and longeivity:
