Punk protest: Sex Pistols manager's son sets fire to collection http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-38120496

It wasn't meant to be about 'things' was it.

punk was just before my time, so i never really got it. as for the protest, wouldn't it have been better to have sold the lot and give the proceeds to charity. surly there must be an ageing punk rockers charity out there.... 8O

I sort of agree with his desicions to burn all the stuff.

Punk (as he said) was back then, and can never be resold or re-invented or remarketed as something else. It was unique back in the day.

I was never into punk (although I fancied the pants of Toyah Wilcox, but I don't think she was a proper punk?)

I grew up with Rock n' Roll belting out in my house. Me dad was the typical Teddy Boy/Rocker back in the day.

I remember going to the youth club in our village, 10 years old, with my hair turned into a DA at the back, and my mum got me and my brother a pair of brothel creepers, along with neon green and pink socks. Combine that with tight jeans and a plastic comb in me top pocket (at 10 years old), and I thought I was the dogs danglies.

I could never understand the rebellious punk, with Mr Rotten and the rest of the Pistols. Me mum and dad always turned the channel off when that ''bloody racket'' came on. You couldn't dance to it. All you could do was jump up and down pogoing, spit everywhere, and then shove each other outa the way.

I had to laught at Vivienne Westwood asking people to switch to Green Energy after her sons protest.

Yeah. My son has caused massive plumes of smoke by setting fire to stuff....and now.....can you all switch to green energy to help save the planet....

i think you have said it in your post. "Rebellious" i just think he could have sold the crap and donated the money. i still see a punk guy in Southampton, exactly as he was all those years ago just more fecking wrinkly. there LP cover was shocking to most oldies etc, let alone the music. I still have it in the loft along with about 300 vinyls ( i have the best of the 'Stylistics" too like Kev. )

There's money to be made in reminiscing about punk rebellion against capitalist exploitation

Rebellion Festivals Ltd. 2017 - http://www.rebellionfestivals.com
£150 for the weekend + booking fee
As one of the worlds biggest punk festivals with 4 days of music across 6 stages with masses of bands, plus loads of stalls selling T-shirts, CDs, and DVDs.

Still it's like Impressionist painters who were the rebels of their day with their sketch rough works who railed against the Salon establishment and orthodoxy, and held their own self-orgainsed exhibitions but are now pride of place in museums, private collections with prices into the millions $£$£$£$ > https://www.checkworks.com/blog/index.p ... l-artists/

Thankfully no one burnt their sketches or historic memorabilia.

seems to me like appropriate celebration of punk anniversary. If I consider costs vs PR effect, very cheap and green also :D
