End of an era.

Post by tony.mon »

I'm letting go.
Some of you may know I had a mobile disco.
4.2 kilowatts of power, I could play big marquees, open-air stuff in fields, halls and house parties, smoke, mirrors, bubbles, lasers and a light show.

Today I sold two out of three amps, so that's the end of the whole thing.
I wanted to let go; I had had enough of the whole day getting the van loaded, getting there; setting up, playing, then breaking down and getting back in the van, unloading, then getting everything back in the loft....
To play four or five hours takes a whole weekend of work.

So back in the summer I decided to sell some of the gear, so that I couldn't accept any longer a request to do a gig.

I can't sell the lasers, I just can't; so the amps had to go.
But it hurts, it hurts.

I will so miss the ability to be able to say; to anyone, in no matter what venue, when they ask "can you turn it up?" Ohhhh, yesssssss, I can.......until it hurts.....

I know that you have to let go of things sometimes.
But I also know that you don't have to like it.

They're sold, and they won't be replaced.
That part of my life is over.

I'm letting go.
It's not falling off, it's an upgrade opportunity.

Know how you feel. Packed up DJ-in a few years ago and have regretted it since. Used to hate setting up and dismantling but I miss the buzz of the nite. Always threatened to go back but the cost of buying new gear is of putting.still have all my music in the attic. Will never let them go
TIP; Never take a sleeping pill and laxative on the same night

You can still do smaller venues using the speakers in your van though :)

No more "Saturday Night Fever"; glad to see you're "Stayin' Alive" nonetheless :)

Unfortunately this is all part of life, circumstances change, we get older and outlooks change too, but you'll be okay Tony :D
Just think, no more weekends logging all the gear out of the loft and back again, what's not to like

Fit some sound activated LEDs to the bike, so when Al has his little speaker playing at the next meet it will be like a mini disco.
