Ok Pop-Pickers, next up on the turntable, we have a rather interesting record by a rarely seen (but often heard) band...
They never sold many records, as those that bought them found them SO big, they couldn't get 'em on the actual record player. The band were asked to provide comment as to why they never released the condensed 45 version, or maybe release an actual 33 1/3 lp. I mean....who in the hell releases an extra, extra, extra long EP with a diameter of 26 inches and a play speed of 18 n' 3/4 ?????
Their manager Dave sent a reply back to us at Melody Maker, and well, we don't have enough pages to run the full article. But, the main gist for the massive record is that: ''if we released a 45rpm, then we'd only get the ''Good Even...'' on the A side, and '''...ing Wembly'' on the B side''.
He continued....''As for releasing an actual 33 1/3, the whole album would be taken up with just the instrumental at the beginning, and so to get the complete song, you'd have to buy the other 4 albums in the set''.
Anyhoo - if yer still tuned in, we give you, the one, and (thankfully) the only:
Gingerbeards Rather Underwhelmed Knicker Elastic Band *: with ''It's Hammertime''
(starts playing record, and the familiar tune of ''Crying Time'' starts up - instead, we hear, ''Oh it's hammertime again, we gonna getchu...)
*With a doff of the cap in tribute to one of the best Scottish bands: The Sensational Alex Harvey Band (Also known as Alex Harveys Incredible String Band)''

Love when people describe it like that. 2am...in the morning. Erm, is there any other time for an AM?
