No. NO. NOOOOOO. Carrie Fisher didn't make it....

:(

I was hoping that after hearing about Carrie Fisher having that heart attack, that she'd pull through. The Doctors said she went from critical, to a stable condition. It sounded quite promising, and I thought (and hoped) after reading about other celebs dying left-right-and centre, that ONE of them, surely, has to escape the clutches of death.

I usually check the news before I settle down for the night, and thought I'd type in Carrie Fisher latest news, hoping again for another bit of promising news.

This can't be right. Why only a matter of hours earlier, they were saying ''slow but positive progress''. I even clicked on an American News company, to see if SKY had got a wrong report...But nope - the poor lass didn't make it.

SKY News: Carrie Fisher passed away...

I've never seen any of the Star Wars films, never read any of her books, and not really watched her in many other films (the Genres were not my cup of tea). But, from her TV interviews, I really like the woman. Smart, funny, and to me, a good looking lass.

If she appeared on anything for an interview (TV wise), I'd watch it just to see her and hear what great stories she's have. She never failed to make me smile.

As a dog person, I feel for Gary, her French Bulldog. It's daft isn't it? Feeling grief for her dog as well as for the woman herself?

The fact that it all looked so promising, and then all-of-a-sudden it ended so badly, has actually shocked and genuinely saddened me. And I usually have a heart of stone.

Brilliant !
RIP Carrie. And thanks for giving me a strong right arm.
BTW. I bought one of her dolls. I'm not to proud to admit it, it was the Hawaiian version. I called it "kumoniwana laya"

I haven't seen that before, so thanks for that Wicky! - My gawd, Steven Speilberg looked uncomfortable throughout the majority of it. An almost worried look, sh1tting himself as to what Carrie Fisher was gonna say - cos, as we know, she doesn't hold back. And he wasn't the one getting the flack.

Some very true words spouted by her during that ''roast'', and never a truer word said, despite them laughing.

Yes, her face was even copyright of all things, and anything she did (and that's up to the day she died), George Lucas took a percentage from her whenever she appeared on an interview - for she was bound to be asked about Star Wars (there's the film mentioned, so, another kerching for Lucas...'')

It's sad that she did so much afterwards, away from the SW franchise - but all that followed her around, like a ball and chain, were people just wanting to know about her when she was a kid in that film. All these years later, and folk still never wanted to move on from it. She campained for so much, wrote many books, featured in many other films, and yet, everyone said when they saw her ''there's the woman who Princess Leia from Star Wars''.

I'm even kinda sick of the News channels already, 'cos that's all they are referring to her to, and then proceed to show pictures of her in ''that gold dress'', or in the white one with the hair in buns.

But, she's away from it all now, and George Lucas and his Industry cannot cream any more from her. Unless he goes after her Posthumously? 'Cos Carrie Fisher memorabillia will be worth a gazillion times more now.

I looked at an ebay page last night and typed in her name - MY GAWD - there's thousands of new listings already....all with massive prices, and there's even bidders. It's a shame when people become more sought after, after they die. :(

Jeezus, does it ever end?

I can't imagine what a mother thinks when their kids die before them. The shock must be hellish, and she (Debbie Reynolds: her mum) had posted updates and messages of thanks to everyone that sent good wishes, and then, literally hours later, replying to the condolences. Once all that was dealt with, and the reality set in (setting aside her Celebrity duties and taking stock in private what happened) I wouldn't be surprised if her mother took a heart attack or had a stroke after it all sunk in.

I will even admit to shedding a few tears. When I read on Garys' twitter page (Carrie Fishers dog (Gary) has his own page - I don't do twitter, but saw a link on a news page), a message that read when she had the heart attack: ''I'll be waiting right here mommy'', and then when she died: ''I was always by your side, but best of all you were always by mine''.

That did it. Set me off with watery eye syndrome so it did. I felt for the dog. I'm a dog person first, with people following on behind. And, as a dog owner who's not long lost his own dog of many years by my side, almost 24 hours a day, this really pulled my heart strings. - Don't worry! - I told myself to man the fech up!

Why the hell has this affected me? I never met the woman. I wasn't a Star Wars geek. I can safely say that I've taken the piss out of many celebrities that pop their clogs. My heart has been akin to a swinging brick. I STILL haven't shed any tears from my Father dying just over 2 years ago, but when my dog was put to sleep, I bawled like a little kid. It's strange: for a woman who I never met, and for the dog she left behind, this caused me to lose a fair bit of Lacrimal gland fluid. Again, I have given myself the verbal of ''wise the feck up man''.

Maybe I now have a taste of my own mortality? I had a small heart attack in April 2014, (caused by discovering I was T1 Diabetic), and reading about Carrie Fishers Cardiac Arrest, has scared me a bit. Knowing it can happen proper, and there's sod all you can do about it.

With a heart attack, it's a warning, and you can slowly recover. With cardiac arrest, that's where the heart stops altogether - like an complete off switch. She had people there for CPR and all the fancy medical folk....and she still died.

I live on me own, and so if I drop or me ticker gives in, then I'd be there for days on the floor, with Bluebottles bouncing off the windows, giving reason for folk to suspect I may not be ok! (read: welded to the floor in a pool of my own digestive soup)

Scary stuff. Enough to keep me awake at night, not wanting to close me eyes at times - just in case.

:wtf:

I know she was a lot more than this Princess Leia, but I found this quite nice. (my gawd, am I getting sentimental in me old age? Or....just mental?)

Sad to hear that Debbie passed away this morning.
As said, loosing Carrie was probably the reason.

A few more days left in 2016, I'm not leaving the house!

It just feels so wrong for a son or daughter to die before a parent does. Unfortunately this does happen sometimes as I'm sure most of us are aware of. I can't imagine either how a person deals with this, I suppose it's a case of having to.
I think you're right Dave, the loss of her daughter took it's toll.

The poor remaining son/brother now has to say good bye to his mother, right after only just saying good bye to his sister,

Chris.
