Hyperpro progressive internals
Hi guys,
I'm considering buying the Hyperpro progressive spring kit for the Firestorm and just wondering if anyone on here has them and how they are?
I've heard progressives change the bike drastically for the better and these are quite reasonably priced.
Any reviews or knowledge is appreciated!
Thanks,
Ian

I have a set, firstly I bought them for Ole Red, When you put them in inevitably you will put fresh oil in as well, which if it has never been changed it will be getting on a bit now...So a bit less dive under braking, bit stiffer but that is as much to do with the fresh oil...You can also play with the air gap to help things...
I still run them in the clonker commuter Custard Crumble, but then that had 36k on it when I got it.
Since then I have had the other Storm, Nue Red, forks Roger'd, now that does make a difference...
New Hyperpro's...£120 ish...Rodger set up & tweek...£250 ish

Re: Hyperpro progressive internals
According to the experts you shouldn't be putting progressive springs in, you should be putting linear springs in suited to your weight, I had my forks done by Roger a few years ago and I'm pretty sure he put linear springs in.
Like what you do

Yes I was gonna say that but forgot...cheekykev wrote:According to the experts you shouldn't be putting progressive springs in, you should be putting linear springs in suited to your weight, I had my forks done by Roger a few years ago and I'm pretty sure he put linear springs in.
Apparently Linear Springs are a better option...
There..think I got away with that...
Damm I'm still typing...

OK this is for cars but the theory is the same...

With that in mind the std springs are already progressive as they have tighter coils at the bottom...

Re: Hyperpro progressive internals
Hi I've been pondering Linear /Progressive for some 2 weeks. The CBF has progressives as standard.
After talking to Ohlins and Penske and Maxton, Linear with the right weight set are far better for the road.
I will be doing mine on Saturday i will let you know how they compare, i do however have Ohlins springs and fork internals so i am expecting them to feel better. Once I've done the shock i will update on that too.
My expectation i must say is "High" for an improvement. I must also say the Standard Suspension on the CBF is far better than the standard suspension on the Storm
The storm though with a WP Rear shock and rodgered forks was great.

missing the noise, not the vibes. However never say never!
Re: Hyperpro progressive internals
Are linear springs meant to be easier to set up because the spring rate never changes in the suspension stroke?
the older i get,the faster i was

Re: Hyperpro progressive internals
Yes exactly that. As the damping is linear so if the spring is rising rate it is never matched to the damping through the full strokefabiostar wrote:Are linear springs meant to be easier to set up because the spring rate never changes in the suspension stroke?

Re: Hyperpro progressive internals
Linear springs would be my choice, especially ones suited to my body weight
I don't think you can get progressive springs suited to your own body weight due the the design.
Getting your forks posted off to Roger Ditchfield ( http://www.revolutionuk.co.uk ) would be the best option IMHO,
Chris.

my springs were changed saturday and i have to say a major improvement. I did also change the bottom bits of the fork internals. I am very happy with the result. I have the Rear shock to do this saturday. Ohlins for Hyperpro prices!!! very very happy.

Re: Hyperpro progressive internals
I've fitted a lot of progressive springs in my bikes and never had any issues.
Personally, I find them better over a wider range of conditions for riding on the road. Also, don't forget Hyperpro boast a constant rising rate with their springs so you are not setting your rebound for only one very small part of the stroke ( if you have adjustable rebound) you don't in the front but you do with the rear.
I find them to be a good cheap alternative. Mind you, if you are going to play around with valving you can get a better set up but then the old adage kicks in, You get what you pay for
