Clutch not working, Help needed

Post by cheekykev »

Just replaced the chain and sprockets on my FireStorm, when I came to fit the the clutch slave piston back into possition to my surprise the clutch doesn't work anymore :confused the lever has very little resistance, I've checked the fluid and the movement of the piston, and all seems fine :confused and before anyone asks, yes I have put the push rod back in, and the right way round.
I'm almost sure someone posted up on here a few weeks ago with the same problem, but I can't find the post, can anyone give me a bit of help here coz I'm totally baffled :wtf:

Sorry I will probably be no help here at all! However I was advised this would happen if you changed the sprocket without first pulling and holding the clutch lever against the bar. I could also be talking s@#t and apologies if I annoy!

Yes worse thing you can do IMO... 8O ...the last thing you want is presure on the M/C when the cover is off...Take the lever off, even just leaving it on there is presure albit small on the M/C hence why the slave creeps out...

Someone will be along in a min to say put a cramp or a zip tie on the slave to stop it coming out...fine cept when it's in the way of you doing what you want to do...Take the lever off...Simples...

The slave pops out as there is a spring behind the piston pushing it out .

I always just gave it a good bleeding if I removed the slave

A good way of orienting it is to remove the larger alternator centre cap.
Then push that into the slave piston and cable tie it in place.
No need to bleed then.
It's not falling off, it's an upgrade opportunity.

That's what I do, it just releases that tiny bit of pressure on the slave cylinder,

Hey MacV2, Adams not so little now, he's actually 6'-1''
Got around to doing it today, and yes it was one hell of a bleeding effort, but finally got there in the end, all working fine again now.
Thanks to all that took the time to post up and help out
