I picked up most of the spares bike I bought a couple of months ago and I was wondering has anyone on here had their frames powder coated? I'm thinking of satin black for the frame & swinging arm, the arm will be going into the bike as soon as all the cutting has been done & it's been welded up, the frame swap will be saved for a winter rebuild.
I might even go for something mad like red or purple?
Powdercoat is great for masking up blemishes so a great choice if your modifying a frame, just of recent, chrome powdercoat has come on tremendously and looks nigh on like real chrome now, may be a consideration for you..justts. use a reputable company that deals in automotive/bike parts.
Slighlty off topic, but I was at a bike meet on Friday and someone had pained their storm frame...problem was, they hadnt removed any components from the bike before painting and there was thick overspray all over the forks, wiring...you name it, terrible...
I remember that BennyHedges also did the lazy frame respray on his bike. He just took the bodywork off and masked the engine the forks and the rear subframe and got the rattle cans out.
Looked great till you got real close, then you could see some overspray in the parts that were hard to mask. But for him it was less time wasted when he could be out riding, so made perfect sense, and he did pride himself on being a bodger
