Looking for a Firestorm

Hi all - I'm unable to post a request in the 'wanted' section so I hope it's ok to add this note.
I'm looking for a late model low mileage Firestorm, ideally in excellent standard condition
with good history.

Ok whats your idea of low milage ? Bearing in mind that the earliest 'late model' bikes will be 17 years old now...
Your best bet is to keep an eye on evil bay & gumtree & be prepared to travle to get one...

Oh & dont just go by the year, there were quite a few early bikes left in dealers which only got sold after the facelift bikes came out...

Welcome to the club and good luck with your search. You're coming into the right season to be buying, just make sure you read through the workshop section here so you know what you need to watch out for and don't let shiney bike syndrome make you buy a dog!

I possibly may have to sell on my 2002 registered Storm(its an earlier model, late registered) with just over 8,100 on the clocks and history/all handbooks etc, depends how much damage my RD500 engine has suffered, I will be finding that out towards the end of next week.

It now has a set of race cans on it, renntec rack and top box fitted but of course all those and the standard parts would go with it.

Your RD will keep rising in value for a few years yet and then steady out. Plenty of time to rebuild the engine whilst it's appreciating even more, save a bit here and there, gather parts etc...
You'll be lucky to find such a clean low mileage storm again in the future, should you wish to go back.
Seems odd to sell a whole bike to pay for a bit of another bike.. Says me who has too many projects I can't afford to finish and too many bikes to ride cause I won't sell one to finish another off
Unfortunately none of mine are appreciating much at all (if at all), I seem to pick the ones I like/liked and they aren't the ones people want to pay big money for.

I can understand why you may think that but the truth is the desire to have the RD up and running outweighs having a Firestorm..nowt to do wifh appreciation, the 500 was a teen fantasy , regards the financials,500 parts rise literally overnight it seems so it also makes to fix it now rather than put it off and search for an expensive & rare part in the future.
My storm is purely a disposable bike for me, something to do longer journeys on and can be replaced with a.nother sporty tourer when needs be.
