Got a test ride this afternoon on a 2004 Kawasaki ZZR1200 with 26,000 miles and full service history,7 of which done by Kawasaki dealer.I will be taking a look at Kawasaki forum later on to see if there is any known weakness's.Does any body here (popkat) know of any common faults other than it's Kwacker? :)

Nothing i know of, only ever had them in for tyres or basic servicing, you don't see many about I don't think they were the biggest seller, probably as at the time the ZX12 was on sale too.

Like all Kawasaki's valve clearances must be checked on specified miles and some will need adjustment, it won't be a cheap job.
They probably have reg/rec issues with age, like any bike really, but if it's charging ok then no problem.
Suspension linkage gets over looked but with a centre stand fitted it should be an easy job to service them.
Corrosion, not the best build quality so get a good look where the salt gets, front of engine, radiator fins etc, suspension adjusters

They are a big and heavy bike.

Test ride went ok but it's just too big and bulky for riding in traffic, lovely bike for open roads with a silky smooth ride.Asked a few questions and it seems there's a common fault with the gearbox i.e.losing 5th gear due to using a zrx 1200 gearbox that has 5 gears and zzr1200 has 6.Bike is not for me though.

What about an FZ1 Fazer Alan ?. I have no idea of your budget but I have one I would sell, I bought it for me but will sell on, It's currently registered to trade so not being used but I need to do a trip on Tuesday so may have to register it to me and put 450 miles on it (not sure yet).

Anyway it is absolutely mint, never seen rain (until Tuesday possibly  ) 2008 model, 7400 miles, completely pampered by it's previous owners. There can't be a better one out there, maybe a couple as good but not better, a few useful extra's, £4750 to you if it interests you.

It can be temping to spend more even for just a few weeks. I'm looking at a VFR 800 circa two grand but a trip to my local Suzuki dealer has me thinking about something newer. They're looking to sell their DL1000 demonstrater. 500 miles, serviced and warranty etc, etc. Around £8k was their starting price. It made me wonder if with a bit of haggling I could get it a few hundred lower and have no reliability anxiety and not lose when I sell it after my trip.
