Test rides thread
Test rides thread
It's about time we had a test rides thread.
Nothing wrong with test rides- after all, we can all have more than one bike.
So tomorrow, in the gales and rain, I shall be test riding an Aprilia 1100 Tuono Factory to see if the lean-sensitive traction control, semi-automatic electronic suspension, abs, launch control, and other toys yet to be discovered can cope with pouring rain, greasy wet roads, leaves and puddles that might or might not be covering potholes.
If it survives that and I don't get bored (Ha! some chance) I might buy one- it'll suit the Wales meetup perfectly.
If you're out shopping in Canterbury and spot some butt hacking through a puddle giggling insanely, that'll be me.

Re: Test rides thread
They are not happy bikes in lousy weather. I had a wet long weekend in Yorkshire a few weeks back. I would have had a much nicer time on the 390 KTM. I cut it short and came home on the M6. It didn't help the front tyre was shot but, all the same.
Also, watch for off-power slides. All the traction control and ABS in the world has no effect if you are not on the power or brakes. I had an off-power lowside on mine (on new tyres, schoolboy error) and there was nothing me or the bike could do.
But, have fun!

Re: Test rides thread
This was a bad idea.
I have made my dear wife unhappy, and now I won't get a Christmas present.
I said that I would sell two other bikes before buying another one, but I was tempted, Lord, sorely tempted.
Resistance was futile, and a deposit has changed hands.
It was the Akra Ti full system that did it....
I need a bigger garage....

Re: Test rides thread
I've got pictures, but haven't seen the bike yet.
I rode one at a different dealership, they wanted more for their demonstrator with higher miles and a std can, so I looked around a bit and found one in colchester Kawasaki online.
Gen 2, leccy suspension, loaded with toys and only 1k miles. But as soon as he mentioned a full titanium akra system, I went moistly off to fetch my wallet.
It wasn't pretty.
OK, one piccy:

Re: Test rides thread
Any more Tuonos, we're gonna have to call them Thunder Storm meets.....
Tuono is Italian for thunder.
I think they picked the name before they heard the bike, the v4 doesn't sound anywhere near as good as the VTR.

Very nice indeed, I'm jealous! Though my lack of riding skills means it would be hopelessly wasted on me anyway
Insufferable halfwit.
Re: Test rides thread
It's hopelessly wasted on me at the moment, it's a pita to have to move two bikes out of the garage every day to do a bit more on the sl125 rebuild.
There's no chance of selling the SP2 at present.
It needs Dream Machine to respray the tail plastics but they aren't working at the moment.....even though bike paint spraying is clearly essential.

ANY service related to bikes is essential
A guy in Germany is rebuilding my Laverda Mirage head, I'm hoping he's quietly ticking along with it - whilst maintaining a responsible 2 metres from anyone of course
