Part 1 of a write-up I prepared about the long and "dynamic" relationship with my beloved VTR is now online at motorcycle.com. Here is the link to Part 1: https://www.motorcycle.com/readers-ride ... art-1.html

(Much) more to come :)

cheers

If you lift the tank slightly (about 3-4 mm at back and about 8-9 at front) you can cut out the upper ring on an old airbox bottom and use it as a shim to raise the lid (@ 9 mm), upping volume and clearance above the bellmouths... all good!

When doing the FIL mod, I paid particular attention to make a smooth transition into the filter element (using black silicone), thereby preventing any sources of turbulence (did this as I recall Roger mentioning that it was critical to avoid having a retaining ring that was not taller than 10mm on his lidless set-up). My FIL was somewhat based on his idea, but with greater internal volume and bellmouth clearance.

A crackin' read 8)

When all your mod's are put together like that you can appreciate more how much work you have done over the years. When I read about single modifications over the years it's all to easy to forget some of the previous work.

I really enjoyed reading that, looking forward to part 2 :D

Thanks for posting the link Micky

Thanks Chris, it's essentially been 19 years of modding and experimenting. FWIW, part 2 is better :)

Nice one Mikky,
You might even get OCMD to go mainstream it might even get into the medical journals

It would give us Blokes a brilliant excuse when the wives complain

It's not modding, it's a medical condition

Informative, detailed and well written.
Well done, you should be proud of that.

I just fiddled with mine and bought bits while drunk, then lashed it together with whatever came to hand in the garage.
And stuck it on a dyno.
Then stripped it and did much the same with a bunch of other bits.
And stuck it on a dyno.

Etc.
