Scotland 2021 6th, 7th & 8th Aug
Scotland 2021 6th, 7th & 8th Aug
starting this thread as a place holder for the 2021 Scotland meeting.
this will be in SW Scotland as usual, so is easy to access from every corner of the UK, and is only a short boat trip for the NI team.
in the last few years we have upgraded from camping to a bunkhouse, then a further upgrade to a Motel by a loch. Although the motel was a last min solution to COVID making the bunkhouse impossible for a group comprising more than one household, it turned out to be a pretty good solution ..... so in 2021 I am proposing we do the same again.
the downside with the motel is that it will be more expensive . we are talking about £70/night for a single occupancy room. but you have the option to share a twin room for, so the 2 nights would come to £80 with breakfast.
there is also an option for Camper vans where they will charge £20/night, and last year I parked up right beside the motel block, so we used the area round the van as our social & BBQ area.
there were 7 rooms in the block beside the Loch, and my plan would be to reserve all of those and then we work out single or sharing based on how many people want to come.
they have more rooms away from the loch and also a larger family chalet so the capacity can go up if needed.
plan is same as pervious years ... travel up on the friday and arrive at Motel late afternoon for a few beers and a BBQ.
spend saturday on the best roads in the world followed by an evening meal & beer in the Motel.
Sunday, pack up and head home.

Don't forget your ration packs (cheap on ebay)

It may be that your whole purpose in life is simply to serve as a warning to others.

I'm in, Al, wife and I will van it up there, so same as last year, we'll book the luxury double, please. We plan to spend a few more days either before or after going to Harris and Lewis in the van with the bike in the back.
Let me know how much, the refund from the TT ferry is burning a hole in my pocket.

Re: Scotland 2021 6th, 7th & 8th Aug
As those who have replied are ok with either date, I will go with the weekend of the 7th. That will allow a longer window between the NI weekend that Kev is organising, and also allow me to fit in a music festival the weekend before.
Keep the names coming

Count me in Al, I'm a Scotland virgin... what better way to visit a new country than behind bars, head down, elbow up.

Will many people be coming on Storms if it comes off?
Re: Scotland 2021 6th, 7th & 8th Aug
