C3 shelebration?

Purely by coincidence, this is.
My mother-in-law, who lived with us for the last 20 years or so, died at the start of April.
We're gradually sorting out her stuff.
So today we found this at the back of a cupboard:

Image
It seems to have been from the qe2 coronation, and we wondered whether it survived, and is still drinkable.

Apparently so!
Not the greatest beer I've ever drunk, but very strong- it was before they had to state the abv on the bottle, so it's anyone's guess as to what strength it is, but it's sweet and malty.

Thanks, Nan!

I might buy a bottle of something current to leave for my grandchildren, if any.

Chances are I'll drink it, though, when there's nothing else left.

Tony, I would have though that bottle of beer could have been worth something if it's (was :problem: ) the real item. A bit late now I guess
Although knowing you, you already checked that out :eh:

Chris.

It was genuine, and I checked eBay -it would have been worth less than a tenner.
Just two bottles of 40yo Silver Jubilee ale to go...
Maybe tomorrow.

Who'd have thought that 70 year old beer would have still been drinkable?

Just get it out of your system before Storming Yorkshire.
I don’t want to be following you if it decides to backfire on you!!!

I thought the same, you're a brave man to try it, let alone drink all of it

I made the wife drink half. That way she can't say it was just my stupid idea.
But no ill-effects were noted.

It was like barley wine, there was one called triple a I used to be able to get in my youth.
Came in third of a pint bottles, slightly odd, but when you had one with light ale you got more than half a pint of light ale to make up the shortfall.
