Hi everyone,
I've a VTR1000RR SP1 2001, actyally with 16T rear and 43T front sprocket. I don't think those were original parts. I'm going to change it, what it the suggested ratio? keep the same? 16/43? It seems that the original ratio is 16/40 from this part number 06406-MCF-D30. What do you suggest forn a normal (not sport) long trips ride.
Thanks!
Pablo

If its not for track use i would kinda stay with what Honda used to start with.

Thanks for your suggestion Fabio. It seems that original ratio is 40/16, but now it has 43/16 and I only found to buy in local shop 45/16.... what do you suggest based on that? Keep searching 40/16? Tks!

45/16 is too much in my opinion. Too much of a wheelie monster.

43/16 was fun enough but still a pain if you ever take a passenger. I found the front wheel would lift rather than accelerate when trying a rapid over take.

I'd keep looking for original if you want a more "normal" ride. It'll still give you plenty of giggles if you get a bit ham fisted :D

Got it! I've found a steel based 42Z sprocket and a rubber based 16Z sprocket , do you think those are as reliable as the aluminum based ones?
Tks!
That's my baby:
