Xmas present to myself

Post by tony.mon »

I retired today.
Well, technically I switched to a zero-hours contract, and they'll contact me if there are any projects they want me to handle.

At this moment that consists of one day in January driving the family of one of the kids we support to a hospital visit in Southampton.

So pretty much no more employment for me.

Let's see how long I last before I get bored of daytime TV and get another job. Or run out of cash...

In the meantime, happy Christmas and a slacker's New Year to me😁

Good luck with change in lifestyle Tony.
Your post made me think about how my try at retirement worked out. I left work to retire in 2019 got my work pension and treated myself to a Benelli Tornado Tre. 1 month later hospitalised with Guillain Barre Syndrome. Unable to walk or dress myself etc. had a slow recovery, will never get back to 100% but not too bad now. After just over a year someone asked me to help refurbish his bungalow and I wanted to see if I would still be useful and could do it I took the chance. When I was recovering took a trip to Ireland to see part of Wild Atlantic way on the ZZR1400, don't know how I managed it as I was still very weak but being on the bike was therapy eh? Still do some jobs now but planning to have another try at retirement when Helen retires in 2025. You never know what life has in store.
Sorry for thread hijack but that's my little story. Hope it works out for you and enjoy yourself.

Enjoy it Tony.
I loved it from day one.
As some of you know, I took early retirement at the end of April.
Between finishing the new house off, playing the drums for the band which has had loads of gigs, going on trips with Sue and rides out with mates, I really don't know how I ever found time to go to work.

I'm sure you'll feel the same in a few months.

Netflix and Amazon prime, then you’re going to get bored of it after 6 weeks and start finding things to do usually which is normally DIY

Update: I found something to do: the couch to 5k.
I already had the " couch" part nailed.

Ran (well, jogged) my first 5k without stopping today.
Bloody hard work, this relaxing lark!
