Hi,
New member from Sweden. Real name Anders but Molle Meck is the handle I use on anything motor related. Mulle Meck (notice the "u") is a famous Swedish childrens book inventor character and Molle with an "o" was my nickname when I was a in school a few years ago. (I'm 58)
I recently bought a 2005 VTR 1000 F one owner bike after being without a bike for 9 years and I found this forum.
It's not my first VTR. I had a yellow 1998 model which I bought new back then and later traded it in for a 2000 SP1 in 2001 which I sold in 2007 to raise money for the down payment on a house. I'm still kicking myself. Not because of the house which I still live in but because in the end I didn't need the money I got off of the bike. If I hadn't sold it I'm sure I would have still had it. Then followed a couple of uninteresting four cylinder bikes. My interest in riding died down and I got a second car instead.
Anyways here I am with my third VTR. Red this time and I notice quite a few things changed between 1998 and 2005. Haven't had time to ride it much yet. Have done oil and filters. Changed to steel braided brake lines and red brembo sintered pads. Previous owner wasn't obsessive with polishing the thing so a good cleaning was also needed. The service history looks good though. Winter is coming soon in Sweden and it will be time to take it off the road. Looking forward to a bit more wrenching over winter.
Cheers,
Anders
