After my last post/thread on this topic vanished when the forums went down, I decided to write an article this time round as a few peeps have asked me for advice.

Fingers crossed.
yep got it checked out today, thank god its only the battery. i think i will be following ur guide to fit a new rectifier though. can you just confirm for me if the R6 and R1 use the same rectifier?
As you can see from the pictures below I am using a 2000 Model R/R from a Yamaha R1. The R6 unit is exactly the same. And all years are more or less the same as well.
the place i bought it from said theyll do it for free but they said they would only use a honda part so would the best thing to do is take the honda 1 off chuck it on ebay and purchase a yamaha 1???
this is a must its one of the very few week points in honda electrics i have seenthis b4 but with the addition of a computer type fan screwed on top of it
My R/R went again last year so I ordered a replacement from David Silver which came with a heat sink on it already and bolted straight into place and no wiring mods. It was advertised as an original replacement but it's worth phoning them to make sure it's the finned type. It was expensive £55 + vat and delivery but I hadn't seen the R!/6 conversion then.
