I have heard this sort of thing before from Crescent Suzuki who ran John Reynolds Rizla Suzuki team.

For the super stocks (no engine mods) they took bikes on the track warmed them up road them hard, after 8 lamps brought them in, changed the oil, then thrashed the living daylights out of them.
They said if you did the running in by the hand book, you would be about 10bhp down!

Very interesting reading...shame i didn't buy my bike from new.

I work in the motor trade, all our courtsey/loan cars all go better than the customers own vehicles, and I'm sure it's because our cars get thrashed from day one.
