Quick Question from a New User.

After spending lots of time here reading I see that the cam chain tensioners are a bit of a pain in the can. My 2000 Firestorm has 19,000 kilometer's on it and at this time has no slap noise. When is a good time to change the tensioners for peice of mind?

My front one failed at 24k miles the day it was going for a service and to get them changed anyway!!!

Don't panic, hagbag. Mine weren't changed until 70,000kms. We Stormers tend to enjoy scaring the crap out of new owners with CCT talk, bascially because its the only fault on the Storm & let's face it, we all like to have a whinge about something. From what I can work out, very few people have problems without a heck of a lot of slappin' noises as a warning.

Thanks for the info, I am in the process of trying to tune in my suspension. It dives to easy in the front , and I am sure I am bottoming out. Not good. I have found some great info here on this issue and I am going to give it a try.

My Storm has 70,000 km on it and I have never had any problems with the CCT's yet. However, I will be getting them replaced shortly when I get my valves adjusted, call it preventive maintenance.

yep this is a great site, full of knowledgeable and helpful people.
I made a slight mistake in my last post as my Storm is now just shy of 80,000 kms. My how times flies
Incidentally, I grew up in Norhteastern Ontario (KIrkland Lake area) but also lived in Sudbury for four years and Barrie for two. I am a transplanted Ontarian.
I hope you've been able to take advantage of this unusually mild Spring

I think unusually mild spring means they got a few less feet of snow than normal.

I have logged almost 10 hrs on the storm this spring from the unusally warm weather. Keep in mind that Windsor is at the same lattitude as Northern California so we dont see much snow here. I would be riding today but its pouring rain and I am made of sugar so I would melt.
