Taking the Plunge...

Well, wish me luck.

My boss called me in this morning & told me she's decided to include morning shifts in my roster again. I despise morning shifts. Have been happily doing afternoon (1-9pm) & night (9pm-7am) shifts for yonks. I'm just not what you might call a morning person. Could do nothing to talk her out of it, so I've got an interview with the agency on Friday. They are so desperate for nurses that the agency is flat out constantly & often can't even supply the staff that are needed, ie, I'll have no trouble getting shifts every single day if I so desire. Essentially, I'll be able to work 8 shifts a fortnight & get paid slightly more than I do now for 10. My plan is to stick with the 10 & make my bank happy.

The big downside is I'm on my own with a reasonable mortgage and I'll be saying tata to a very hard to come by piece of paper that states I'm full-time & permanent.

Completely un-bike & probably of no interest to anyone, but I felt the need to post. Sorry... :?

Thought about the bridge-burning scenario this arv, when I woke up. Funny thing is, the ward I'm on now uses a lot of agency staff already because we're so short. Chances are I'll be back doing exactly the same thing in the same place fairly often, just for more pay :D . I won't be leaving on bad terms. I'm farrrrrr too loved for that :P .

At the end of the day we only go to work to pay the bills (if you enjoy what you do it's a bonus) so if you can get a job that pays em easier go for it  Nothings ever permanent in reality so enjoy what ya got when you've got it. Stand up for what you want and do't be bullied into doing something that you don't want to do :x Blimey just read that and it's a bit preachy !!!!!! Oh bugger it just stuff em an have fun with the extra cash :D :D :D :D :D :D

I am sure that between me and Marty we could find you some sore bits to rub and look after. The pay might not be good but the company would be great

You're getting the hang of it Max, but the truly schmicko day will be when I let my current boss know I won't be there in two weeks... She is as yet unaware...

Hmmm... Well, if the Agency work doesn't pay off, then I might just max out the credit cards & take you up on that. Life's short. I may as well go the good company  !

Now what did you go & say a stupid thing like that for??? :o Spoken like a true BMW rider   . I hadn't thought of that. I'm pretty fit & healthy, so binning the Storm rather majorly would be about the only thing stopping me working. I've been riding like a mad thing for the last 13 years without an accident, so I guess I've got a pretty good track record. And also, considering my plan is to join the police next year 8O (yes, you did read that right...), I've drastically toned down my hooning, on the understanding that losing my licence may not fare me particularly well in the selection process. I realise that doesn't rule out the possibility, so if the worst scenario eventuates, I'll just have to go on sickness benefits & do what I can. Or I guess I could succumb to one or both of those rich type schmucks (there's another one for you, Max  ) who've made their intentions known recently :? .
