As long as he can reach the pegs and is ok about it then not a prob.
My lad goes on the bike to school, and for other things. He has full kit and loves it. Very good passenger and all his mates talk about him going to school on the back of dads bike.

Mind you he is 21..........

Not really, he's 8...

On the legal side of things!!!

the Law states that the pillion must be able to reach the foot pegs and sit astride the machine facing forward wear an approved safety helmet

Both my lads have rode pillion for the last five+ years since beeing 8 and 11 years old and loe it (even if the ex wife doesn't) seems the only ruling is being safely able to reach the footpegs... 8) 8)

How did you handle the 'if anything happens to him I'll kill you'
statements from the wife ?

I got knocked off last November, so wife is obviously not keen on the boys going on the bike

I always was pillion on my dads bike as soon as I could. Was the only Cub to turn up in full bike gear. Never had any problems.

I wouldn't be letting any kid of mine hop on the back with a BMW rider!
