I need something cheaper than the 'tin' bikesafe 250 style ones; nice though they are. They still make 350-400 on eBay for local second hand ones (Why is it they go for less in Scotland but with much more delivery costs to here in Kent of course?)

These are cheaper & easier to assemble (and dismantle too if required) at my rented place.

That seems to be a similar material to the Protech ones and so I'm interested to see if they are any good for bikes.

Im definatly up for one that you put up yourself, the problem at the moment is i dont know if im going to be renting or in halls, if its the later im not quite sure what to do!

Think the only downside with the fabric type ones is insurance.
Most policies specify brick built garage

Mine is insured as a stand outside machine anyway so it is only for keeping the worst of the wet weather off her!!!

I assume the 'fabric' cover on a frame saves chafing on the paintwork (unlike a tarpaulin laid over it) if it's windy as well as being just a push/ride in or out without having to untie it etc.

I have got a few stationary engines under fabric covers and it is amazing how a little movement can mark paintwork.
My VTR is under an Oxford silver outdoor shaped cover that I got off of eBay about 18 months ago. Works well but not as nice as a proper shaped 'garage'.

hi guys just thought i would fill you in on carcoon i have had a carcoon bubble in my shed then garage for the past 6 years and can honestly say they are the dogs and do exactly what they say. i can also say that having any problems with the product customers service is second to none they even dropped parts off at my house on their way home. well worth the money in my books. this is the best product on the market so dont compramise.

I have used the Carcoon for my Lotus Seven but of course the bike one is for internal use only at the moment (see the posting from me above about the 'new' outdoor one coming).

I may well have a green one of the Pro_Tech ones as it seems a good compromise and is available at a fairly good price.

Any suggestions as to how i get a heavy VTR up the stairs, round a u-turn at the top of the stairs and back out again are welcomed as i have sold the kids on Ebay instead.

Putting a ramp up from the front garden not an option, neighbours complain a lot and fitting an external lift comes under planning regs.

I know, keep it in the dining room !!
