Woohoo!

Post by VTRgirl »

Just booked a house on Phillip Island for the GP in October :D

Been to The Island once before, but not for the GP (just to check out the penguins... awwww...).

This time it'll be on for one & all! The house sleeps eight, got the whole bbq & outdoor entertaining thing happening. Two storey with decks on both levels, the lower one destined to become the Storm park. Great views & looking towards great company. Plus going the grandstand 3-day pass for the track.

I live a good 2,000kms from the Island & plan to tour the Snowy Mountains on the way down with a bunch of Stormers, so that should up the distance a tad. I'm hoping all the snow will be over your way (or at least en route) by that time of year. Plus after the GP, the plan is to tour Victoria with a few other Stormers before heading back north & back to work for a rest.

Booking the house has upped the excitement level somewhat, so I felt the need to fill you all in.

Any of you game to come & hang with the Aussie Stormers for a while?

I've just put 3000km on my Storm in 3 days (Teesside-Land'sEnd-John O' Groats-Teesside) and it performed admirably. Enjoy!

Thanks guys!

Of course you can come, TSP... just as soon as I receive your deposit, your place will be reserved

And BMIC, it's great to finally hear of someone over there doing some Ozzie-type kms! Good on you. I regularly ride from my place to Sydney in a day (ie, about 1000kms) & on the Storm, it's truly a joy. Can jump off at the other end, ready to go out for the night :D

I'll be meeting up with VTRGirl and about 18 Storms for the weekend, staying at a place called Walcha and doing many kms of riding twisty roads. 8)

you have just made me sooooooooo jealous !!
lived in Western Australia for ten years many , many years ago.
there were only about 30 bikers in the whole State then. Only three roads, up, down or right....if you turned left you got wet !
Nullabor wasn't bitumised then so not many rode over to " your side " to enjoy decent roads.
Did a bit of racing at Wanneroo Park.....900 Ducati...happy days.
Any chance of you posting a few pics of racing so we can all drool ?

I'm sure we can arrange some pics afterwards, WFM.

Sharpe1 & I & the 16 other Storms all had a blast at Walcha on the weekend! Some great pics too. The colours were pretty evenly spread with about the same number of red, yellow & black. One custom blue, ridden by a fella who cheerily cops more cr@p than anyone else I've ever met, managed to get lost & miss the main photo shoot though, so only 17 in most of the pics. I'll post a couple (or Sharpe1 will) as soon as I get a mo'.

There were threats of a few other bikes tagging along, but it ended up being pure Storm Heaven! And, of course, for the trip down, the skies opened & record downpours abounded. The main ride day with the group was perfect though & I only wish I'd bothered to stop & take a photo of the "twisty roads for 45km" sign. And the place is renowned for being left alone by the coppers!

I've completely lost my confidence in the tight stuff after coming off last year, but still ride like a maniac on the big sweepers. For about 40km of amazing 90-95kph recommended corners, I held the Storm absolutely flat. A Duke 1098 I passed decided to join in & tagged along behind, pulling up at the servo about a minute or two later while I was filling up. Big grin on his face & I was expecting a bit of a "that was great, thanks" or something. Instead, when his mates arrived, he raved on about that "guy" on the red bike in front of him  . I pointed out the tits & lack of chipolata, shook my head & laughed while I called him a sexist pig. He went bright red & his buddies thought it was hilarious... especially since he'd confessed he couldn't keep up!

Before Sharpe1 dobs me in, I'll admit I scored a lift back home on the Sunday in the "support vehicle". Two chicks in a ute towing two Storms on a trailor proved a novelty for the public though ;). And ner ner to Larry. If I'd ridden home, I wouldn't have been able to carry all the spoils home from the stop at the winery! :P

Well I can let you in on the secret of how the Girly does 1000km in a day and still parties. 8)

Here are some of the trip.

This is the caravan park we stayed at. Notice the grey sky that disappeared later that day.
