I haven't had the VTR out in a week because of the weather. I've got a nice new black visor waiting to be tried out too. Anyone been pulled in N Yorks for wearing one?

Hi matey,

As per article in MCN a few weeks ago, it's still technically illegal to wear dark :cool2 visor anytime, but national 'common sense' approach is to disregard during daylight hours. (I believe). I understand this originates from the inequalities across the country in different forces as to how they implemented certain laws relating to visors, reg plates, loud pipes etc.

Doh! Angel (Halo) Smiley won't work! I 'always' carry either a clear or legal irridium visor in Timberwolf pouch just in case I get delayed and end up returning home after dark or if weather changes for the worse.

Though it's more for my safety than that of complying with the rules. It's bad enough trying to keep your eyes peeled for numpties with 4 wheels and irratic pedestrians as it is, without the added labour of peering through a black visor in poor light.

This said, I'm lucky enough to have a Titech and although the visors for them ain't cheap (Nearly the price of a cheap Chinese lid), they are a doddle to change quickly.
Nice to see that 'the law' is used sensibly sometimes... common sense prevails :o

Touch wood never had a tug for my plate or my cans ... long may it continue.

If you're carrying a 'legal' visor I doubt plod would do you unless you'd really pi**ed them off. If you have no alternative with you, then you may just get a lecture and told to be home before sunset.

There are VTR riding rozzers on this forum - (can't help their day job, keeping you and I safe from the scum of the world). Perhaps one or more of them might like to comment.?
May depend on whether they're traffic cops, bike cops, 'normal' beat cops as to how they deal, but should now be 'common sense' across the board as previously stated. Perhaps as they are 'only human' one police person will have a different idea of what is common sense to another.

C'mon boys in blue - what say you?

Graeme.

BTW: how come noisey pipes are an issue for us and not goddam Hog riders with straight throughs? don't give me that dB pooh there's no way my Microns are louder that many of the Harley's I have the misfortune of coming across.

or stop being a girly alan and go out anyway?

:)

As for black visors, I've never had trouble anywhere with one. Cos I use it only in daytime when it's sunny and carry a clear one in a visor pouch. Using it when it's peeing down or at night is asking for bother.

North Yorks, Lancs and even Wales police have all been fine with it.
