reading back through my chrash bang wallop post.....i noticed you said that u had to replace a belly pan with a new one for insurance purposes........

Have they since been back to you to and said you have to replace anything else for "new" parts??...and also what CAT did they write your bike off as??

The reason i am asking is because like you fella i am planning to source and replace my broken parts with scnd hand......and with the other bits that are either minorly scratched or scuffed i was planning to do nothing at all lol.

If i do this does this mean i cannot put it back on the road because i wont be insured?? VeetyR

It isn't a case of having to replace the parts with new if you are putting her all back together properly and then getting an MOT done I assume. You can use second hand serviceable parts with no worries.
Insurance companies though when they get a rebuild HAVE to have all new bits whatever so no liability exists if a part fails. Trouble is like the belly pan and the new mirrors etc it gets very expensive. They said the mirrors had scratches on the back of the plastic casing. It's true, but a) they were there when I bought the bike and b) they had no affect on their operation at all, but they said they still had to be replaced even though the galss was still fine etc. Basically they have to have everything as it was when it came out of the factory. That means a slight mark on the swing arm (from say paddock stand use) means having to fit a new swing arm etc. Ridiculous but true! 8O

I never got to see my VTR again. It went to auction somewhere as they wouldn't let me have or even buy it back!!!!!!!
