Even though it's a 99 model It could well have injectors fitted or possibly a whole newer injected engine seen as it's a track bike.

Kermit,
The ignition module is seperate to the fuelling.
You would not need injection to utilise this module

AFAIK you are really not going to see much of a difference with an ignition module unless it is to match other mods (eg different cams, crankshaft, pistons etc)
The only other benefit of this type of unit is that you can select different maps for different gears. This would give you the ability to produce less power in the first couple of gears to make it less likely you'd highside out of a slow cornern without sacrificing power on the straights for example
I have chatted to Roger about this in the past with regard to these sort of things
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/KAWASAKI-ZX9R-C1- ... dZViewItem
and he said that when he ran the Moriwaki Firestorm in British Superbike they found no real improvement by fiddling with the ignition timing even with Moriwaki cams, pistons and modified crankshaft
That said, I wouldnt discount buying a bike because it had one fitted but I'd not pay extra for it
If its largely standard you need to consider that you are basically buying a 99 Firestorm with no V5 and pay accordingly
I have just emailed the seller and asked
Can you tell me what (if any) engine work has been done on this bike?
Also, what mods have been made to the standard suspension?
And does it have frame and engine numbers?
so will see what I get back

I have one of these (though not fitted yet as paperwork re wiring was initially missing).
A lot of the reason for having one is not ouright power, but that difficult to determine 'driveability'. The best power delivery is a smoooth curve as we all know. Some bikes and cars appear fast as the power all comes in with a rush but that is because at the lower revs they are quite poor (due to emission controls etc).
See graphs below. Difficult to see colour changes, but the 'Icon' Superchips is the smoother of all the curves!!!

Geoff H and yours Ben are pretty good but still have that 'hollow' around the 4 .5 thou area.
How much are these Superchip things really?
It's a long story but mine was a bargain beyond belief then.
Where did you see it priced at that much please?
Cheers, LSM
