Re: what have you done to your "bike" today

My right hand exhaust has worked it's self a bit loose. That wont help your carb setup. Get that sorted first. You want no intake or exhaust leaks if trying to work out your jetting. (:-}) Yes good thoughts Carl. It's not 'blowing' when engine/exhaust hot, only when cool but still has mov...

Re: 2.5k rpm cough

Did you get around to drilling the main air jets out as well  Yep I did, about 2 months ago depending on whether you have or not things are sounding a bit rich all over to me. If you go any richer on the fuel mixtures then you will be looking at going up a size on the pilot jet. Ive just com...

Re: what have you done to your "bike" today

Didn't feel I wanted to post last couple of days. RIP Benny, only met him once (Wales) but he showed me an interesting way to inflate an air mattress: attach to an exhaust pipe and there he had an instantly inflated bed!! Brill. I had a few messages from him and he was very helpful indeed. My right ...

2.5k rpm cough

Evening! As a few of you know, I've really taken to my carb fettling. After I met up in West Midlands on the Dyno day I hatched my next plan for the carbs. It was rich low and lean high up in revs/throttle position judged by splutter at 1/8th throttle position (rich low) and a/f being lean at high r...

I was M62/M60/M62/M6 south to M56. Maybe?! I had a roll bag strapped to my Givi rack.

Re: what have you done to your "bike" today

Rode my commute Yorkshire to Anglesey- first long ride since I fettled with the carbs on Sat: Pilots #48s Mixture 2.5fr 2.75rr Mains 182fr 185rr 1 x Front slide hole plugged And the starting & slow speed is much smoother/crisper. The 3000-5000 range has smoothed out so corners feel more controll...

No dip at 5000 rpm and very smooth curve
Mine the opposite Marty, we should swap bits! Mines getting lowered pilots and raised mains tomorrow! And I'll epoxy the front carbs lift hole I think. Griff.

Re: what have you done to your "bike" today

Oil and filter change. My first time with the 'storm- I had a man do it last year! Easy enough but I was getting concerned when re filling- getting close to the 3.9l and still not sighted on glass.... Then all of a sudden the oil level appears! Phew. Hope to make my carb changes after the really hel...

I agree Lloydie; the slim minimalist approach looks good. Good luck. Griff.

Re: Top Gear

I read in Ride last week that they put a Firestorm engine in a lawn mower to make the fastest lawn mower in the world, or something! They tried a CBR900 type but was too wide so went for the 'storm engine. Should be good! (Hasn't been on has it!? I've missed a couple of shows). Griff.
