Starting & Charging issues.....again!
Sorry if this has been covered time and again but I cannot get my head round my specific problem, so bare with and here goes. I bought the Storm a year ago and straight away realised that the reg/rec. was u/s as was the battery (fried) as it was charging at 18 volts! So, I bought a modified reg/rec ...

Re: Battery or starter problem etc...
Well it looks like the starter solenoid must have been faulty. Refitted the battery after testing, put another used solenoid from my Pan on it and bingo turned over and started great. Very strange!

Battery or starter problem etc...
Apologies in advance if this has been covered but I'm having issues starting my Storm. I fitted a new OE reg/rec. when I got the bike as it was on the original and was knackered. At the same time I fitted a new Yuasa battery and have had it on a conditioner ever since. Recently I've tried starting ...

Re: Bottom fork bolt grief
Thanks for the info chaps, all apart now no problem. Had to drill bolt out on one leg which was very easy with a cobalt drill set, took a few minutes. Luckily no damage and new bolts and washers ordered. Whilst I have it stripped I've noticed the original steering head bearings are very notchy in ...

Bottom fork bolt grief
I am attempting to do a fork upgrade as the excellent write up in knowledge base and all was going swimmingly until I attempted to get the bottom bolts out of the fork lowers. I have gently used an air impact gun and sadly rounded one but the other has come undone and just spins. I've read the best ...

Re: First problem.......
I'm pleased to report that the new battery and RR are fine, charging at idle is stable at about 13.6 volts so all good thanks.

Re: First problem.......
Well I now have a new Yuasa battery and later Reg/Rec to fit tonight so wish me luck. No wonder the charging was all over the place, when I took the original Reg/Rec off there was a 10 mm split in it with some molten solder poking out of the slit!! Please keep your fingers crossed that it has not ...

First problem.......
Went to start the bike today and just a buzzing from the starter solenoid. Noticed the battery had been leaking slightly so jumped the bike off another bike battery and it started very easily. Put a multimeter on the battery and noticed it's charging at 18 volt at idle!!!! As I rode it 130 miles ...

VTR Newbie
Hi all, I've just bought a 2000 VTR with 11,000 genuine miles and a full history. I've bought it as a second bike as I also have an old 1100 Pan which I cover some miles on. Looking forward to my first big V twin and getting lots of advice from the forum.
