Re: CCT stopper mod question
Ok. Got it, thanks a lot for the diagram. Once I built an electronic RPM counter. It was rising in function of the changes in the magnetic field due to the ignition system. Was on a TT. Maybe checking the ignition timing one could guess the compression point of the piston.... maybe connecting a ...

Re: CCT stopper mod question
No. With the rear cylinder at TDC on the compression stroke you can remove and replace the rear CCT. To remove the CCT on the front cylinder the front cylinder MUST be at TDC on the compression stroke. So, after you have fitted the rear CCT you must rotate the crankshaft so that the front piston is ...

Re: CCT stopper mod question
Hi Cyber, thanks for the explanation. My suggestion was involving keeping still the shaft (maybe a friend) ... so that the other cylinder is not applying any energy. And anyway... does the tension provided by the valves of the second cylinder rotate the main shaft? mmmmm, and the two pistons are ...

Re: CCT stopper mod question
Ignore anything about inline fours! The VTR is a v-twin with its own characteristics which have been explained earlier. But still .... there are marks on the generator wheel. I suppose one could tell the position of the shaft in regard to the marks is always the same. I.e. you open the first bike ...

Re: CCT stopper mod question
In the link you can see what I mean, with most of the bikes you can just put the piston in the right position without disassembling the head cover:

Re: CCT stopper mod question
As AMcQ46 points out, the valve timing is set on the compression stroke at TDC (top dead center). If you do not have the valve timing set correctly the valves could be partly open, that will put the cam chain under load, meaning when you remove the CCT the cam chain will jump the cam shaft ...

Re: CCT stopper mod question
.... ahhh and by the way... in 10 days there's the MotoGP 20 minutes west from here... and in September the Superbike 20 minutes east from here.
If any of you wants to pass by ;)

Re: CCT stopper mod question
Ohh my god this is so retard. Yes I get it. Honda's engineers must habve been on drugs. Is necessary to take them out to access the place where to put the rod. I thought there was a hole in the back like on other bikes CCTs.

CCT stopper mod question
Hello again, I got convinced to save my ass bike by doing the CCT stop mod. I'm following the tutorial on the forum but there're two things I still don't get. 1 - Why in the first point Sirch talks about setting the valve timing on the engine? With the stop mod I'm not taking out the CCT so if they ...

Re: Insane vibrations
Don't remember if the vibrations are also under the feet, I would say yes. Have to go on an highway and check again. Has it got rearsets / after marrket footpegs without rubbers? Post a few photos of the bike yes about the footpegs. But that shouldn't matter much. This is a picture: https://s31 ...

Re: Cam timing
Ok. Thanks for the advice, I got convinced. Will try to find the cheaper solution between replacing with manuals and STOP mod.
I will dig into the forum, no need to repost here things.
Thanks again.

Re: Insane vibrations
can you also feel the vibes through the foot pegs? making your feet numb? can't really add to what the guys have said. sometimes people fit crash bungs to the engine mount/frame bolts, it's possible that the bolts were overtightened, that might be worth looking at. because it would mean only 4 of ...

Re: Cam timing
I have a stupid question. The CCTs on this bikes get suddenly broken and the chain jumps out putting the valves out of synch or the CCTs get stucked not providing enough tension over time and the chain before rattles for a while and then the engine gets fooked (you have the time to hear the problem)?
