Re: The usual suspects

https://www.leboncoin.fr/motos/offres/ile_de_france/occasions/?th=1&q=Honda%20VTR1000%20 French EvilBay I've seen several adverts for VTRs in France but none mention CCT or R/R, though all the used bike guides identify them as problematic. Also you tend to take pot luck due to an absence of MOT ...

Re: The usual suspects

The later finned r/r is much better, my 2003 bike is still on the original one and all is well at present! The cct's are a lottery fella. I rode my bike back from York to Hertford and then used it for about a fortnight before swapping over to manuals. If the bike has been regulalarly used and maint...

Re: The usual suspects

i agree, if the bike is already being used with the CCTs and R/R working it will be a low risk that it will give problems in the 1st 600miles. it sounds like you expect the std VTR to be like sitting on a time bomb, and although the weaknesses are real, the probabilities are still low.... my r/R an...

Re: The usual suspects

Thanks for the info. Bearing in mind I'm some way from home the idea is to programme my brother to check dealers near to him and try to arrange a short holiday to test / buy / return. I knew about the fins, but does finned = OK in all cases? Obviously the fins will shift more heat, but do they all s...

Re: Long legs?

The front end of mine and a number of other bikes have a CBR fireblade front end. Forks and brakes changed from standard to 954 blade upside down forks. Sent from my SM-G920F using Tapatalk Is that more race / track day oriented? I'd probably replace the suspension anyway, cos it could be nearly 20...

Re: From deepest darkest France.................

Hi their love the idea of living France after many good holidays there but not sure I could actually make the jump. Enjoy this lot all the right info on the vtr here. Stay away from the cities, as in most of Europe, and the people are really laid back and willing to help. Coffee is drinkable, as is...

The usual suspects

I've read the informative sticky and other bits, but it begins to look as if my first ride, other than a test, on a new (to me ) VTR will be about 600 miles, somewhere in UK to home. Given that I detest walking, I'll ask the prospective dealer to fit a volt / ammeter and hope I don't run out of elec...

Gradually declining...............

A termite walks into a pub and says "Is the bar tender in here?" or Two parrots sitting on a perch. The first parrot says to his sidekick, "Here, can you smell fish?" or Two girls talking in the hairdressers. First girl says "My boyfriend cut his finger off at work." Se...

Re: Long legs?

Guys, Thanks for all the info. It makes a huge difference, as we all know, to ask questions of those who have splashed the cash as opposed to those who (are lucky enough to ) test ride bikes for a living. It's also good to find people who are willing to share that info - once again we've all experie...

Long legs?

Greetings Done a search on this fine forum and no-one seems to have asked or answered yet. I am looking for another bike, and considering, as you do, quite a list including a VTR. Several people here and on other write-ups have said they have problems with a) leg room - but compared to what? b) fuel...

From deepest darkest France.................

Greetings to all A quick note to say hello. I am not so much a "born again" as a "frequently aborted" bike rider, four separate periods of motorcycles split by kids, injury and retirement. I've retired twice, so I'm getting used to it, and working on retiring for the last time in...
