Re: PAIR System removal

Im not sure you need any kind of blanking kit, all I did was remove all the hoses and cap everything.. Then just flip the reed valves and put the original covers back on with rubber caps over the hose barbs. So far I havent had an issue with any oil leaking, poping etc. Is there something the blanki...

Re: Poor cylinder running and cam timing

From my thread in what's annoyed I'm still seeng poor running after a case split (gearbox and crank brgs) etc. Despite lots of carb cleaning, checking seating etc she still refuses to pull well on rear pot. So I decided to revisit timing and have a question. While, like many it seems mine won't ali...

Re: Right hand fairing in early yellow

I have one, from a yellow 2000 model..not sure if thats the right yellow or not. my left side is buggered, so I ordered new fairings for mine. I would like to wait until they arrive before parting with my current ones. PM me if interested. Chris Ive looked through some of your posts to try & fi...

Re: Less engine braking, lighter throttle

ok try this . i spent a lot of time tuning two stroke years ago. as you know the pumping in a 2t is a whole different kettle of fish :D . and anytime i lightened or added weight to a 2t the engine braking increased or decreased. this was just because of the flywheel change because the pumping effec...

Re: Less engine braking, lighter throttle

My long rambling post above was my attempt to explore the science and the factors. It's interesting that different people report different results from the same experiment, and I wondered why. I'm still thinking this through. Maybe an analogy might help. Or a thought experiment: Upturn a bicycle an...

Re: Less engine braking, lighter throttle

Rings fluttering !!! :whatever Not saying its anything to worry about.. just stating facts about why vaccum in a crankcase is a good thing. I also forgot the expensive 3 step solution to get the best of the light throttle and less engine braking. 1. lighten the flywheel = faster revs/light throttle...

Re: Less engine braking, lighter throttle

So engine braking effects can be felt in two ways: 1. As you downshift, revs drop due to the shut throttle. Letting the clutch back out engages the rear wheel to engine connection, and the effect of the engine increasing revs to bring it to the speed dictated by the primary and secondary gearing an...

Re: Headlight issues

+1 with what Kermit said. Cut and strip the wires solder on new connector. Dont forget to put the shrink tube on before you start twisting wires together. I Installed a led H4 headlight bulb on mine as well. Much whiter and brighter than before... only downside was I had to leave the rubber peice off.

Re: Headlight issues

Today I noticed that my full beam indicator light was faintly illuminated when dipped was selected. Upon investigation in a Tesco car park, the headlight connector (on the bulb) was too hot to touch and has melted slightly. The earth tang on the bulb looks oxidised and even the base of the bulb was...

Re: 5mm rear ride height spacer

Mine is all stock with a 10mm spacer over the rear shock. I didnt notice much difference at all... maybe it corners a little quicker, but it is still very stable.

Re: Stage 2 Cam Valve Springs

Is it just me.. or do these degree numbers seem very high. Im thinking that its because its measured at 40thou instead of the standard 50thou I've still got the instructions for my Yoshi Stg1 cams so I'll have a look for a comparison. There's a post on the Superhawk forum with the figures too I thi...

Re: Stage 2 Cam Valve Springs

so after talking to the chap I bought this stuff from, he said everything was supplied by Honda to a local guy who was racing a vtr and was sponsered by honda. I looked up the cam specs in the mega cycle book from the stamped 102X3 on the ends. the specs are: Intake: Lift - 11.43mm Duration @ 40 tho...
